COPPER BENZOATE IN FIREWORKS
Introduction

The firework chemical copper benzoate is a great blue firework star coloring agent.

Copper benzoate is used in pyrotechnics to create a blue flame. This is desirable because the blue spectrum is often difficult to achieve and a good blue star is the mark of an accomplished pyro.

The formula for copper benzoate blue is 82/18 Ammonium Perchlorate/Copper Benzoate.

Copper benzoate is a fuel which is used in some blue color compositions. It is not used very often as it is more expensive than most alternatives. The use of copper benzoate as a fuel in the two component blue star formula with ammonium perchlorate was first published by David Bleser in American Fireworks News circa 1990.
